Chlamydia Screening Service Now Available!

The UDSU’s Education and Welfare Service is proud to announce that from the 13th February 2008 students will be able to access a free and confidential Chlamydia Screening Service via The Source – your UDSU’s Independent Advice Service.

Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the UK, particularly in the under 25’s. Most people don’t know whether they have it as Chlamydia has few symptoms and is almost impossible to detect without a test.

Chlamydia is passed on through vaginal, oral or anal sex. So if you’ve ever had unsafe sex you may be at risk. Treated early Chlamydia can be completely cured. If left untreated however, Chlamydia can cause severe pain, uncomfortable sex, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and infertility in both men and women.

You can get tested for free at Kedleston Road from the 13th February 2008 - Its time you took your Sexual Health seriously!

RAGE
Raise and Give Extreme is a new initiative for 2007/08 that will see and high octane approach to fundraising for our two nominated charities The Bobby Moore Fund and Winston’s Wish. The plan for the year is to raise at least £10,000 for the charities, whilst we will also support the following one off events:
Children in Need – 16th November 2007
World Aids Day – 1st December 2007
Sport Relief- 16th March 2008
The concept of RAGE is to raise money as a Student Union to support student nominated charities, as a non-profit organisation we are governed by Charity Law which states we can only donate money to these nominated charities. Therefore if you see any activities or promotional material showing the RAGE logo, any money you donate will be split 50/50 between The Bobby Moore Fund and Winston’s Wish. However, if you see any activities or promotional material showing Children in Need, Sport Relief or World Aids day logo's and you decide to donate your money, this money will be sent only to the designated charity.
RAGE week is will be an action packed adrenalin pumped week of activities which can be found listed in the RAGE week plan. There are two aims to the week:
1. Raise as much money as possible
2. To break the negative stereotype of volunteers and volunteering

RAGE will be a year long project where anyone can get involved and help raise money at any date as well as the one off RAGE week. For more information and for how to get involved contact ollie
