What is Varsity?

Varsity is an annual sporting competition between Derby and Lincoln, taking place over two days. This year’s series is coming soon; with Derby looking to win the series for the first time in the five years of the competition.

• Men's Hockey (Derby & Buxton)
• Women's Hockey
• Squash

List of Derby Events:

• Men's & Women's Football (Derby & Buxton)
• Men's Rugby (Derby & Buxton)
• Rowing
• Dodgeball
• American Football
• Indoor Cricket
• Tennis
• Equine (TBC)

How does it work?

For every win, the relevant university is awarded one Varsity point, which contributes to the overall Varsity Series Champion. The University who gains the most wins from all events goes home with the Varsity Trophy and, of course, the pride of knowing that they have beaten their closest rival.

How can I get involved?

Well if you are not one of those participating in one of the competitions, the series is an opportunity to come and support those student who represent the University of Derby on a weekly basis in a fun and innovative environment. And what better way to show your support and pride in being a student of the University of Derby, by cheering on those who represent you.
