Academic Affairseducation at derby...
The University of Derby Students’ Union is committed to ensuring your entire experience here is the one you want it to be. Our aim is that while studying one your programmes you are challenged, developed and that your voice is heard and listened to.
One of the ways to have your voice heard is by becoming a Programme Rep. These are a group of students from all backgrounds and levels of study who are committed to ensuring that their educational experience is the one they expected. Here at Derby we are clear on the notion that We as students will never be just consumers we see ourselves as Partners or Co-producers of our Higher or further Education experience. If you imagine that the University is a theme park and you turn up in year 1 and decide not to make use of the rides or facilities you will not get out of it what you expect. If however you enjoy the facilities and get involved and more importantly feedback about what could make it better; you will have a better time.
The Education Zone is convened by your Vice President Academic Affairs Dom Anderson and he works closely with the university to ensure that students are taken into account when any change is made. Some of the projects he will be working on this year will include research into the Library provision across the University, enabling students to engage in the national debates around Higher Education and Further Education and making sure that the University continues to honour the entitlement document that was co written by Us and the University.
