Today you are one student with one voice, yet, tomorrow you could be a student representing 27 thousand voices
Is it ignorance or apathy? Hey, I don't know and I don't care.
Elections 2008
March 14th is the day you the students’ will have decided on who will represent you on issues including:
- How much you pay to study
- Whether you can park on university campus
- The cost of products you buy in SUB, Keddies, Artique, The Dome or Rotunda
- The availability of lecturers when you need them
- The content of the modules you study
- The line ups at the May and Graduation balls
- The affiliated student nights
- The opening times of the library
- The amount of money given to your club or society
- The lack of opportunities you get because you are not a full-time student aged 18-21.
There are hundreds of issues affecting hundreds of you, the students. Many of you will know people in your class, halls, sports team, society, group or workplace who are all students and who have complained to you about an aspect of University life. As a student you have a right to complain, you have a right to be heard and you have a right to be represented. Many of you decide not to use this right because you choose to ignore this opportunity. University is sold to you as an opportunity from day one by everyone around you and when you arrive you are told to maximise this opportunity.
What you are not told is to demand a level of service by those who you pay your money to and just because a number of you do not pay directly from your own pocket immediately, one day you will have to give this money back. Please answer the following:
- Are you 100% happy with every aspect of your University life?
- Do you want value for money?
- Have you ever made a negative comment about an aspect of University life?
If you have answered YES to one or more of these questions then please help yourself and other students by maximising this opportunity to help shape your future.
The Students’ Union Elections are your opportunity to vote on the people you want to represent you on all issues affecting you. These are the ONLY people in the University sphere who will give you honest, independent, representative advice so make sure you choose the ones who represent your views the best or even better, run for a position yourself.
Use your voice, you are one student with one voice, let it be heard.
