The Boiler House Common Room
The Boiler House Common Room is a social space for the students of Buxton College where you can meet friends when you’re not in class and take advantage of the different things you can do down there. Whether you want to chat with friends on the bean-bags, play a game of pool or compete with other students on the PS3 and Nintendo Wii it doesn’t matter!

The Boiler House Common Room is staffed by our trained Youth Development Team who are there to supervise the space as well as provide training to you in an informal classroom setting. If you feel that you might benefit from talking to one of the team about an issue you, or a friend, might be having then they can book you and appointment to see a Student Advisor at The Source your Students’ Union’s advice service.
The Boiler House is also available for students to hire... for free! All you need to do is fill a form and hand it in to a member of the team in the Boiler House.
If you know an external group who might like to hire the space, then a space charge is applicable for non-student groups.
The Boiler House Committee
At the beginning of the year a committee of three people is elected to help inform your Students’ Union about what you might like to see happen down there and also, to promote the involvement of Buxton College students in the University of Derby Students’ Union. The committee is made up of the following people:
- Boiler House President - Rose Yates
- Welfare & Campaigns Rep - Alexandra Peet
