Welcome to the Men's Hockey section of UDSU if you’re looking for some information about the club and the potential play you have come to the right place we are currently in league: BUCS Hockey - Midlands Conference – Mens 3A, Captain: Kody Fludgate, Coach: Kevin Heath. We are looking for new players of all standards to help progress the club and also to have fun with the more social aspects of hockey life.
2010/11 saw the Men's 1sts play a season with some good and bad results culminating in 4th place overall for the season. The season of 2011/12 has been off to a steady start already but we are looking to improve results with team experience being gained from the training ground.
Thinking of joining? We cater to a huge variety of players, from those who want to train at the highest level, to those with no experience at all. There will be a place for you, which will provide you with relevant coaching to greatly improve your style and quality of hockey. We train on Monday evenings 5.30 to 7.30 at St Benedict’s school and as with all BUCS leagues play matches on Wednesdays.
Socials. There are a variety of social nights throughout the year, which brings a great atmosphere to the club and helps freshers to get to know the team so it’s not too late to make some new friends and start playing some sport. All the Universities Sports teams Host events throughout the year which gives not only the opportunity to bond with your teammates but also enables you to meet a host of new people, including those in other sports clubs.
This season offers us a great challenge, with no game being a given win or loss. As is the nature of a uni team we are maintaining some of the squad from last season and, with the presence of Kevin Heath, as coach we are looking to excel ourselves as a club with the intake of new players looking for a strong result for the season.
How much does this cost? To join any sports team in at the university you have to pay a £35 pound membership to the AU (Athletic Union) which covers your insurance for whatever sport you play there is then an additional £10 to pay to the club which helps keep us stocked with equipment such as balls, cones and other various items.
I look forward to meeting new players, supporters and returning with a strong team to see what we can do next season. If you have any further questions please dont hesitate to get in touch.
