Exciting news from the University of Derby:
The University of Derby are looking towards linking up with Leek College and hope to see them as part of the University of Derby family by 31 July. Leek College offers further education courses like Buxton College.
Important: This won’t affect your studies in any way. You won’t see any day to day changes. You’ll still get the qualification, in the same way from the University of Derby/Buxton College. We believe it’ll bring many benefits bringing Buxton College and Leek College together for our further education students.
There’s a process to go through before that happens and you may have questions along the way. We’re right at the start of that journey at the moment but if you have any questions please contact feedback@derby.ac.uk and the University can get you a response. Alternatively you can contact the Students’ Union on info@udsu.co.uk
We’ll keep you informed of what’s going on throughout the process. So keep looking out for updates.
UPDATE: FAQ's
Q. Will A Levels and GCSEs continue to be offered at Leek?
A. It’s intended that Leek College maintains and broadens its current curriculum offer. A level and GCSE provision will be protected and expanded unless there are quality issues or learner recruitment is poor.
Q. I’m currently studying for a qualification with Staffordshire University. What will happen after the merger?
A. It’s expected that students already studying with Staffordshire University will complete their courses under the current arrangements.
