Part Time Officers

A fundamental part of the Students’ representative process involves the Part-Time Officers. These officers work to specific remits outline in the constitution. Often they work closely with the Executive Team in order co-ordinate activities with in the Union and feed information from and to the students they represent. The main purpose of the Part Time Elected Officer positions is to put forward the views and opinions of the groups of students who they represent. Within the Union Council we have the following Part-Time Officer positions.

Vacant — Black and Minority Ethnic Students' Officer

The Black and Minority Ethnic Students' Officer is there to represent black and minority ethnic students within the University population.

Jack Clemson — Campaigns Officer

The Union has a voice but it is not always heard, therefore campaigns can raise an issue or overcome a problem. The Campaigns Officer assists the Union in its activities whether it's a safe sex campaign, fight against top up fees or to free Wednesday afternoons.

Emilios Georgiou-Pavli — Communications Officer

The Communications Officer supports the VP Communications in their role. They Chair the Communications Association Committee and the Entertainments Advisory Committees. The Communications officer offers input into the Student media which is on offer at the Students' Union.

Alison Fernandes — Democracy Officer

The Democracy Officer is there to ensure that the democratic structure of the Union is upheld.

Joe Robson — Equal Opportunities Officer

No matter who you are or what you do, opportunities should be available on an equal basis. The Equal Opportunities Officer makes sure this happens.

Louise Samson — Ethics and Environmental Officer

The Ethics and Environment Officer is there to ensure that the union is ethically and environmentally responsible.

Scott Carlton — Further Education Officer

The Further Education is there to represent Students at the University of Derby who are studying further education courses.

Jana Pavova — International Students' Officer

The International Students' Officer is there to represent all International Students. They liaise with the Executive team over international and multi-cultural student matters.

James ChickLGBT Officer

The LGBT officer Represents any lesbian, gay, bisexual or transsexual matters that arise within the student community, ensuring equal representation.

Vacant — Mature Students' Officer

The Mature Students' Officer gives a voice to the large mature population here at the University.

Vacant — Non Portfolio Officer

We've tried to cover all areas that are either under-represented or are essential to assist the Sabbatical team in the running of the Union, however, it is impossible to cover everything. If a group is under-represented (i.e. work placement students) The Non-Portfolio Officer is here to give them a voice.

Martyn Lathbury — Post Graduate Officer

The Post Graduate Officer is here to represent the views and opinions of Post Graduate students.

Hannah RobertsRAG Officer

The RAG officer is here to work with VP Student Activities to ensure the Success of Raise and Give (RAG). The RAG officer also chairs the RAG Committee.

David Beckford — Societies Officer

The Societies Officer assists the VP Student Activities in their dealings with societies and be responsible for chairing the Societies Association Committee. They ensure that Societies, and the opportunities available, are pushed to their potential.

Andy Hale — Sports Officer

The Sports Officer supports the VP Student Activities in their role. They Chair the Sports Association Committee and supports and offers input into the various campaigns run by the Student Activities department.

Vacant — Students with Disabilities Officer

The Students' with Disabilities Officer is there to ensure adequate representation of students' with disabilities. They also represent the Union on the University Disability Co-ordinators group.

Kayleigh Halfpenny — Womens' Officer

There are many welfare issues or campaigns carried out throughout the year; however Women, along with other groups of the student population are deemed to be at a disadvantage. The Womens officer is there to ensure that these voices are heard.
