The University of Derby Buxton Rugby Football Club was founded in 2008 with a view of providing a great rugby experience both on and off the field for those students of the Buxton campus who have an interest in rugby union. In their second season – their first in BUCS – the men’s team managed to finish third in their league whilst playing some entertaining rugby which drew large crowds to Buxton Rugby Club.

We welcome people to come along and support us at home matches and for some away matches supporters can come along on the bus. We have strong links within the local community through Buxton Rugby Club, where we play our home matches and hold our training sessions, there is always opportunity to play weekend rugby with a different crowd as well as competing for the University on a Wednesday.

We are an active social club who are like a large close knit family; looking out for each other wherever we go. Our big presence on campus and in the local community means we are well recognised and helps with making friends and enjoying a great social experience. We are working hard to develop women’s rugby too; at our last AGM two specific positions were created for the development of women’s rugby – Women’s Manager and Women’s Social Secretary these two roles will work hard to provide opportunities for people to enjoy the ladies game.

Whatever your interest in rugby union there will be a place for you within our club. Whether coaching, refereeing, management, playing or supporting is your thing we can find a place for you and help with qualifications and courses too.
