Joining a society is a great way to meet people, take up a hobby or to gain new skills. Here you can find a list of all our current societies and decide if there's anything you're interested in – and, if not, you can start a new one to fill a gap.

Why join a society?
If you want to do something different with your time at university and meet new people who share a common interest, then joining a society will be for you.
What do Societies do?
This depends on what society you join and what their focus and priorities are. Below, however, are examples of the activities some of our societies typically put on:
- Meetings
- Social events
- Awareness campaigns
- Fundraising
- Talks/lectures
- Performances
- Beginning/End of year events
- and much more...
How do I join a Society?
To join a Society you need to use our online membership system. To join, simply click the Join a Society tab on the right hand side of this page and follow the instructions.
How do I contact a society?
Go to our list of societies and click on your chosen society and this will take you to their minisite where you should find their contact details. You can also find societies at the annual Freshers' and Refreshers' Fairs.
How much is membership?
Membership prices vary depending on the Society, you can go to their minisite or contact the society directly for their price. There is also a full list of prices available during the online joining process.
When can I join a society?
You can join a Society between September and June within an academic year.
How do I set up a society?
Any student can set up a new Society that does not currently exist. For more information click onto Start a New Society tab on the right hand side of this page.
I'm having problems joining online and need help what do I do?

What do I do if I have a comment/concern or complaint?
If you have a comment/concern or complaint about a society or society committee member, you can email your VP Student Development giving details. For more information on our Complaints, Disciplinary and Appeals you can read the UDSU Standing Orders.
