The Students’ Union recently held it’s AGM (Annual General Meeting) and the following changes to the organisation were passed by students who attended:

Splitting the Postgraduate Officer into a Postgraduate Research Officer and Postgraduate Taught Officer - The proposal is to split the current role into two to reflect the need for different representation for PGT and PGR students and update the standing orders where necessary. Policy passed

Updated Officer Trustee Role Descriptions - The proposal is to alter the role descriptions to accurately reflect the new responsibilities of co-chairing & deputy-chairing a new University committee – Student Experience, Learning and Teaching Committee (SELTC) Policy passed

AU Council Review - This proposal will allow members of the sports clubs and club committees to hold their relevant councillor to account. It will also help the handover process for new councillors as there is currently no guidance for the roles. Policy passed

Authorised Absences Form - The approval of this proposal will make the authorised absence request form the formal method of recognition for absence on a Wednesday afternoon, by adding the form into the appendices of the standing orders. Policy passed

Sports Branding Policy - The proposal is to alter the branding and naming conventions of all Athletic Union/Sport related Union activity, including all aspects of the standing orders, staff titles, officer trustee positions and future branding, to reflect “Sports” as the general term for all Sports related activity. This would include changing and re-naming the current Athletic Union President as the Vice-President (Sports). Policy Passed

BUCS References - To propose that the reference to BUCS be removed from affiliation to the Athletic Union as not all clubs compete in BUCS, so that it is applicable to all Athletic Union clubs. Policy passed

Creation of Micro-Societies - The main focus of this policy was to allow students to start a micro society where they do not have the numbers required to affiliate. The Union would then support and guide the micro society to transition and affiliate. Policy passed
